AMCOS represents virtually all music publishers in Australia and New Zealand and, by way of reciprocal arrangements, the vast majority of the world's composers, music writers and publishers. It controls the reproduction of published musical works, better known as the "mechanical copyright". Copyright clearances can be obtained from AMCOS through general licence schemes, but individual clearances are required for all advertising, video, film, radio or television programme usage not covered by a licence scheme. Applications are available on request. AMCOS offers some research facility to the public for a small fee and regularly speak to training organisations on music copyrights
